The Sustainability Shuffle started with the idea that Minecraft Projects don't have to be the product of just one class or one school. Minecraft Education Edition allows the downloading and sharing of worlds and that fact got Canadian Minecraft Global Mentor Ben Kelly thinking about the potential for international collaborations in the summer of 2017. After becoming an official TeachSDGs Ambassador for the Global Goals it became very clear that The World's Largest Lesson called for Minecraft Education's largest lesson! After crafting the initial plan using a world with 17 villages that would act as hosts for the 17 global goals, the call for participants was launched. The feedback was fast and extremely positive. The Sustainability Shuffle started in Malaysia and the student effort and production has been incredible! See the two year global schedule below and enjoy exploring and adding to this resource! Together we are Building A Better Future in Minecraft Education Edition by creating prototype solutions, sharing facts and uniting as a virtual and real world to solve these human problems by 2030.

Welcome to the home site for Sustainability Shuffle. This project had the same Minecraft Education Edition (.MCWORLD) File travel around the world as students in many countries and of many age groups demonstrate their understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students also were encouraged to demonstrate possible solutions for the several goals they choose to work on. Once a group was done, the world got uploaded to the host OneDrive folder for the next group elsewhere in the world to download and continue adding to the file.

Luckily enough a seed was found that provided a Minecraft world with 17 villages! Each of these villages acts as a base for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Students place signs around the village showing off their knowledge of the goals' targets and how they apply to their countries. Around the outskirts of the villages students build massive solutions that they feel if constructed or employed in the real world would bring positive change for that goal and humanity. Villages are easily jumped to using a teleport coordinates system mapped out by teacher Ben Kelly before the initial world was shared. Each village started with an SDGs Guide (Students often accidentally destroy these guides) in the form of an NPC there to help with external web resources that take the kids to some preliminary learning material. Awareness and the dawn of real action are the products of this engaging and creative project which is the largest ever international Minecraft Education project yet! Will your country and students be represented next year?
